De Vilnits Apartments

Residential clustering to create a hive of activity.

Located within walking distance to the Penrith CBD, the site of consolidated lots features dual frontages; one presenting to the bustling Mulgoa Road context to the west and the other addressing the quieter De Vilnits Parade to the east.

The development consists of three separate residential buildings over a large basement carpark, all sharing ‘T-shaped’ central courtyard creating a vista through to the Blue Mountains.

The cluster of buildings form a “hive of activity”. This notion is expressed in the facades. A strong geometric pattern meanders across, forming an abstract interpretation of honeycomb.

The staggered pattern sweeps across the western facade and is pushed upwards towards the north in a tectonic manner with a sandstone base which draws inspiration from the geology of the nearby Blue Mountains.

The contrasting De Vilnits frontage features similar forms however, they arranged in a more static and stately to respond to the subdued context.

Morson Group has embraced Penrith Council’s initiatives to make the CBD more green, the roofs of the western buildings are adorned with lush, cascading green roofs.
